Claret Stat: John Oster was signed after his Sunderland contract was cancelled after an off the field incident while on loan at Leeds United.

Burnley Manager Steve Cotterill knew John from his time at Sunderland, spent no time in tieing him up on a short term deal, in 2005, John scored just once for the Clarets against Coventry City in a 2-0 win.

John was sold by Mariners boss Brian Laws when just 18 years old to Everton for a fee of £1.5 million, two seasons later Everton got rid, selling Oster to Sunderland but in his six seasons he made under 100 apearences, his contract was ripped up in 2005 while on loan at Leeds after an incident involving an air rifle.

After Burnley and Oster could not come to an aggrement on a contract, John went the way of Glen Little and signed for Reading, in 2008 John left the Royals to sign for Crystal Palace leaving to sign for Doncaster in 2009.
