Signed by former manager Steve Cotterill as a replacement for Wayne Thomas who left East Lancashire for the sunnier climate of the south coast and Southampton. Two hundred grand was a snip for a former England U21 player who was only 26 years old when he put pen to paper. At 6'3 he is a powerhouse of a defender who chipped in with three goals in his first season in the Claret and Blue of Burnley, including a magical overhead kick in the two all draw away at Bristol City. With his first season under his belt ,we hope to see the player who was the Kingpin in the Watford defence that saw the march into the Premiership in 2005/06.
A local lad, born just down the M65 in Preston, Clark Started his career as a tangerine, at rivals Blackpool where he gradually made the centre half spot his own. His powerful performances in the seasiders side, got him noticed a £250k bid from QPR would be accepted and Carlisle would be moving south. Three seasons in London were enough for this Lancashire lad, and on a bosman free moved back up north to Yorkshire and Leeds United, but 38 league games later and Clarlisle would again be on the move this time to promotion chasing Watford. he proved a snip at £100k when he was instrumental as Watford finished 3rd then beat former team Leeds in the playoffs and, off he went to the Premiership. The Premiership was to big a call after Carlisle got an Injury early on, he went on to make just 4 premiership appearances, being loaned out th Luton Town towards the end of the season, both Watford and Luton got relegated. And on to Burnley as direct replacement for south coast bound Thomas. |
