Steven Fletcher has already wrote himself in the Burnley record books, when Owen Coyle smashed the transfer record, when the Scottish International signed on the dotted line for a whopping Three Million pounds ! doubling the previous record.

Steven Fletcher was born on 26th March 1987 in Shrewsbury, although English by birth he has become a member of the Senior Scotland squad after successfully coming through the ranks of the under 19 and under 21 Scottish teams.

Steven a very promising young striker has recently had interest from Real Madrid, Manchester City, Middlesborough and Celtic, but it is Burnley's Owen Coyle that has captured his signature.

At £3million some would say it is a lot of money and a big risk for such an unproven player, but as Owen Coyle has proved in the past he only signs players that he thinks will fit into the style of play and more importantly the team ethic. Let's hope this new Fletch can put them in net more often than the last one, if he can then he will definitely be a great catch.

On the 5th July the Scottish Mail reported that Steven Fletcher has donated £125,000 of his signing-on fee at new club Burnley to Hibs' youth academy. The Scotland striker decided to make the magnificent gesture after securing a £3million move to the Premiership club last week, It is believed that Fletcher received £250,000 for joining Owen Coyle's side but as reported he has given half of that cash to his old club.

Steven made his Hibernian debut aged just 17 after coming through the club's youth programme, the Hibbees academy has already churned out more stars of the future and the Under-19 side secured a league and cup double last season. Fletcher's donation will have a huge impact on Hibs' resources at grass-roots level and help the long-term future of their youth programme.

The Scottish Football Writers' Young Player of the Year said in the Scottish Mail: "As soon as I knew Burnley were after me - and knowing Owen as I do - I felt this was the place to develop my career."

"The opportunity came to join Celtic in January but Hibs didn't think it was the right time for me to move on."

"However, when the chance arrived to play in the Premier League for Burnley, I was glad they accepted it."

"I didn't hear much from Celtic while I was on holiday so I wasn't thinking about them.

"Then I heard Burnley wanted me and after I spoke to the gaffer I knew it was right."

Fletcher's dream is to play for Liverpool one day and former Hibs team-mate John Rankin is sure it can become a reality. Rankin insists the move to Burnley won't be the last major transfer of his career.

And the Easter Road midfielder reckons Celtic will soon regret not splashing the cash to secure the 22-year-old hitman.

Rankin said: "At this stage of his career Fletch HAD to go."

"He was getting frustrated at what we were doing because he was pushing on to another level."

"We would then get annoyed at him so I think it's better for everyone that he has moved to a bigger stage."

"I rate Steven so highly. His awareness and confidence surprises me for someone so young."

"I don't think this will be his last big move. Fletch has aspirations to play at an even higher level and will surprise people down there."

"They might think he's just another young lad trying his luck but Fletch is different."

"Celtic will regret not pushing to boat out for him. He could play for one of England's top six."
