Claret Stat:  Signed by Steve Cotterill on a Bosman free transfer at the start of the 2005-06 season, after his fantastic display in the FA Cup game while playing for Bournemouth.

The  Burnley manager kept tabs on him until the end of the season, and made Wade and team mate Gareth O'Connor his first signings of 2006-07.

A former England schoolboy international Wade Elliot took the unconventional route into League football. 20 year old Wade was spotted playing for non-league Bashley by Former Anfield great Jimmy Case. He was subsequently offered a trial by the South Coast club .Where he signed his first Professional contract in February 2000, and he hasn't looked back since.

Wade won Bornemouth's Player of the season for five consecutive years before his move up north, his first season under Steve Cotterill at Burnley was not as successful as we all would have wished . With only 23 starts and a return of 3 goals did not endure him to the Clarets fans. But his following season(2006/07) he was an almost ever present with 40 league games under his belt scoring 4 goalsin the process .He also won Burnley's Player of the season, and more importantly started showing signs of what a good player he is.

The start of 2007-08 Wade now in his last year of his contract. Played a part in every league game of the season under both Steve Cotterill and Owen Coyle .By the end of the season he walked away with the Player of the season for the second successive year and the goal of the season for his strike against Charlton .

Burnley's new manager had the Clarets fans smiling with the news that in March 2008 Wade Elliott had put pen to paper to a new three year contract .

2008/09 was a great season for the Burnley winger, Claret boss Owen Coyle, changed Wade from a right winger to a attacking centre midfielder, and with glorious results. He didn't win any awards in the official end of season awards ceremony, but its wade thrusting runs through the middle that resulted in many goals for the clarets.

It was Wades goal in the play off final against Sheffield United that earned the Clarets promotion to the premier league. Elliot's goal was worth around £60 million for the Clarets, it's one of the most important goals in Burnley's history, up there with Ian Britain's header against Orient, and the Championship wining goal by Trevor Meredith in 1959/60.

The last day of the transfer window (Aug 2011), Wade was sold for a reported fee of £500.000 to Birmingham City, it split the Clarets fans right down the middle, but all would be united in thanking the wide man for his time at the Turf and that Goal.
