Off to the seaside this Saturday to play our near neighbours Blackpool, this was one of those games at a crucial time in the season where we really needed to win, also we were looking for revenge for that early season battering at Turf Moor by 4 goals to 1.

Coming into this game Blackpool were sitting comfortably in 10th place with Burnley sitting nervously in third just two points behind leaders Wolves but with two games in hand.

Well we all know that Blackpool is famous for its golden sands but we didn't expect most of it to be sitting on the Bloomfield Road pitch, it was a case of more sand than grass.

During the first half Burnley put up a spirited if somewhat nervous performance, not helped at all by the state of the pitch. From one of their many forays up field, Meredith managed to get himself on the end of a rebound and crashed the ball past Waiters.

Burnley now 1-0 up and having most of the possession should have gone on and killed the game off, but it was not to be as somehow Blackpool managed to keep themselves in the game and with only 5 minutes left on the clock they levelled the scores through a cracking header from Charnley.

Huge disappointment all round for the Clarets fans, final whistle with the scores at 1-1, but soon there was a great consolation as news filtered through from Molineux that Spurs had done us an unexpected but huge favour by beating Wolves by 3 goals to 1. The Clarets were still in it, and seriously. Wooo Hooo.

Programme Review

Team changes to those printed in the programme were, Hill in for Matthews and Furnell in for Blacklaw.

The Blackpool programme was a very simple 8 pager costing 3d. The content was very disappointing so nothing to report
