Burnley Manager from June 1985 till Oct 1985

The bleak days of the fourth division had started, Benson the man who allowed us to drop so low had gone.

Time for a new dawn? well that's what we all thought when former Scotland and Manchester United captain had agreed to join Burnley as manager. Any thing was better than Bonds right hand man.

Unfortunately a new dawn never happened as Buchan failed to make the transition form Player to manager, leaving Burnley after just four months in charge. He will always be remembered as a great player, with Aberdeen, Manchester United and Scotland.

Martin knew he couldn't hack it and to his credit he didn't flog a dead horse, he resigned and left Burnley and Football management for good.

Good bloke, honest man.  Martin Buchan knew his limits and refused to allow his lack of ability in management drag Burnley down further.
