Lewes and Hastings were to profit, as Leytin Orient sent out the winger on loan during the 2010/11 season. He made his first start for Orient and scored his first professional goal on 17 September 2011, in the 3–1 defeat at home to Oldham Athletic. A string of impressive performances, including a goal in his FA Cup début against Bromley, soon saw him attract interest from the likes of Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town. On 23 May 2012 George Porter rejected a two year contract offer from Leyton Orient, signing for the Clarets in July 2012, The fee which was fixed by tribunial was set at £90.000 with a further £70.000 based on appearances and a further £100.000 if Burnley gain promotion to the Premiership and George plays 23 times during that promotion season.
In January 2013, Sean Dyche allowed George to join Colchester United on a 'Youth' loan deal till the end of the season, the loan deal allows Burnley to recall Porter at any point. |
