Claret Stat: An inside right, Gordon made his debut for Burnley in January 1946 against Stoke City, the first competitive post-war games, as the Football League North before the FA had reinstated the Football league format. Gordon played in 20 games before the league was re instated.

In a friendly game against the Polish RAF XI, Gordon scored twice in a 6-1 victory at Turf Moor.

In the following season a 3-2 victory over Newport County Gordon netted the winning goal in his first league appearance for the Clarets.

Gordon Haigh played just 20 times for the clarets scoring just three competative goals, the first on his league debut against Newport, his second was the opening goal against Grimsby Town at Turf Moor in Burnleys' 4-1 victory in 1947/48 season his last at Villa Park in November 1948 when Burnley lost in the league to Aston Villa 1-3.

Gordon moved to Bournemouth in 1950 afand also played for Watford before moving back to our area where he played non-league football at both Rossendale and Nelson.

He continued to live locally until the sad news of his passing, just four days after his 90th birthday.
