During the second world war, Jack continued to play for Manchester United occasionally guesting for Bolton Wanderers.
He came to Burnley after the emergence of Jack Crompton which made his first team opportunities at Old Trafford quite hard to come by. But while at Burnley, Breedon managed just the one appearance as Jimmy Strong made the goalkeeping position his own.
Breedon was released the following season, going on to manage at Halifax Town.
