Claret Stat:At Burnley Ian worked under various managers namely Jimmy Mullen, Adrian Heath, Chris Waddle and Glen Roeder over a period of six years, playing his only first team game under Chris Waddle against Bristol Rovers at Turf Moor in 1997.
Duerden in his time at Burnley represented England under 18's in 2 friendly internationals. After loan spells at Glentoran, Bamber Bridge, Southport and Telford United, Ian was transferred to Halifax Town.
Ian didnt last long at the Shay before another transfer, this time to Doncaster Rovers where he progressed his career under the influence of Ian Snodin attracting interest from several premier league and Scottish premier league clubs with Snodin turning down six figure offers from Aberdeen and Bolton Wanderers.
After a bad injury in 2001 Duerden was sold to Kingstonian, helping them reach the 5th round of the F.A cup with several crucial goals. A very talented centre forward who led the line well applying aggression and speed whenever he played but a career that came to a premature end due to several injuries.
Duerden went on to represent the England fire service football team.
