. "Nothing succeeds like success" Harry Potts words after the quarter final draw of the Anglo Scottish cup, Glasgow Celtic over two legs ! what a draw, Celtic the first British team to win the European Cup 11 years earlier. The Anglo-Scottish success was a highlight of another unsuccessful league season.

Crystal Palace won the league with 57 points, Burnley finished in 13th place had 40 points.Burnley were there on the night when they won the title losing 2-0 with over 50 thousands Eagles fans,

Burnley started the season well drawing there first three games, then winning the next two, but the sixth game saw Burnley hammered by Sheffield United 4-0, and that's basically how the season would pan out for Burnley, no undefeated runs to talk off just an indifferent season in a weaker 2nd division.

Leighton James had returned form QPR, Pashley would be sold to Blackpool Terry Cochrane would be transferred to Middlesbrough ( a quarter of the £210k fee would go straight to Coleraine, as part of the original deal that brought terry to Turf Moor).

So with  a front line of James, Kindon, Fletcher, Morley it would be hard to comprehend that Burnley centre midfielder Peter Noble would be Burnley's top goalscorer with 14 goals although half would come via the penalty spot.with Billy Ingham netting 9 league goals and Fletcher scoring the same.

James only had a return of 3 in 37 games, Kindon also 3 in 37 games.
