Martin Buchan, former Manchester United and Scotland Captain came to Burnley in a blaze of glory, he brought with him his former Manchester United colleague Tommy Cavanagh.
But things did go well for Martin, he resigned shortly after the Defeat away at Swindon, Tommy Cavanagh took the reigns, with the board room at breaking point, the real saviours were the fans, ironically set up by former Chairman John Jackson, who left in the chairmanship this year, but through fan unrest he left the board of the team he supported since he was a boy. The supporters club who's continued efforts to raise money, through race nights, Quiz's, Party nights, Junior supporters events, Sportsman's dinners, kept the supporters close to the club, a link which even today is vital in keeping this club on the up
